Clean manufacturing facilities, or clean rooms, are most often associated with the production of semiconductor chips. Additionally, pharmaceutical processing, biotechnology and food processing industries use clean rooms in one form or another. A fire in any of these industries can cause a significant loss, as both the product and the machinery can be destroyed.
Clean rooms present a challenge for standard fire protection due to the high velocity and movement of airflow. Because of this, customers can opt to protect separately the manufacturing tools, the chemical storage areas or the entire space.
